For the last year, Neil Deuries has lived in the Black Diamond Estates in Las Vegas, Nevada because... Well, for the simple reason that he wanted to get away from any drama that his family needed to deal with, particularly about the fact that he had been dumped three years ago by the woman he had believed would be the woman he would spend the rest of his life with. All he had wanted to do for the last year was to be himself and to feel as though he had no more responsibility than the person next to him. God, it was wonderful to be himself.

AMOROUS

Though Neil had been hurt by the last woman he had fallen in love with, he was still the most passionate man he knew. If he found a woman (or man) he truly fell for, he would take a bullet for that person. He would never admit that he could be that passionate about a person, but he certainly was. The fact is that he just doesn't let his heart open and embrace people very easily because of how he had been hurt. He doesn't want to go through the pain of finding someone he loves sucking on another person¡¦s genitals. He just wanted to have a passionate relationship with someone that wouldn't hurt him.

PENSIVE/BROODING

It was more than obvious that Cornelius was and always would be a very pensive person. He walked around his own home with a glassy look and spoke not a word for hours as he dove into his own mind, attempting to fish out every little detail about every current situation that was either leading to a problem or leading to something amazing. The man simply enjoyed attempting to find the smallest problems and to fix them, or to find the largest gift in a situation and to make it even better for the other person. Besides that, he had been taught from a very early time in his life that he should reflect on how he reacted in any situation. Was what he did appropriate? What about the things he said? Had he been as cordial as possible?

SOLITARY/ANTI-SOCIAL

Neil did not enjoy large crowds. Though he didn't necessarily enjoy being completely alone, he would rather have been alone than around other people. In all reality, the reason for this was that Neil had never been taught the proper way to relax around others. He was always very eloquent with his speech and always posture as though he were talking with the Queen of England or someone as equally important. It often made others feel awkward and such only lead to him feeling rather embarrassed and upset. Besides this, he felt as though most people only wanted to prod him about his personal life and feelings or emotions. Such was not an acceptable topic.

fears:

In the past ten to fifteen years, Neil has been psychologically diagnosed with three different phobias: autophobia, panthophobia, and demophobia. Each affect him in different ways, but all three are very much topics that he will not talk about unless you have a medical degree or have somehow managed to wiggle your way into a special place in his heart. The only reason he won't talk about them? He fears that, if he does, he'll go into a deep, dark depression that will only spiral downward and that he will never recover. He prefers to cover up his weaknesses and never acknowledge them.
Autophobia is described as the fear of being alone or of oneself. To Neil, this basically means that he's afraid that he will one day end up an old man sitting in a rocking chair by himself as he recounts all of the life partners he could have had. The thought of being alone for the rest of his life is frightening and he desperately wants to settle down, but he's unsure of how to let a woman into his life. But if he can't conquer that, how will he ever be able to pass on his genes? He's the only child in his family and his parents are too old to have another child. Obviously, there are some very deep roots to this phobia.
Panthophobia is listed as the fear of suffering or disease. When Neil was a small boy, he heard his mother and father fighting one night over his maternal grandfather. Drago was demanding that Arianna agree to let Neil see his grandfather on his deathbed, but Arianna was arguing that it would be far too traumatic for the young boy. The next day, Neil¡¦s father dragged him off to Arianna's father's home and told the boy to say good-bye to his grandfather. Neil was frozen in his place in his grandfather's bedroom as he watched the frail man breathing through tubes, groaning out loud in pain. He hoped and prayed he never went through that...
Demophobia is the fear of large crowds. Though Neil had never liked being completely alone, he had never liked being completely surrounded either. It was almost as though the walls were closing in on him and his breathing was being choked from his throat. In all reality, it was much like claustrophobia, only with people instead of merely small spaces. The site of hundreds of people made him shiver and he couldn't stand the thought of their bodies possibly touching his own. What might they want to do to him? Dear God, there was such a large possibility he could go missing so quickly in a large crowd, just like when his mother had taken him to the mall when he was child... He didn't ever want to relive that fear.

From the moment he met Orchid, Neil new that he was going to fall in love with her. However, he hadn't understood just how deep that love was going to go. This new, gorgeous woman had actually replaced the relationship he had with his mother. She had completely wiped out his need for the older woman and, even though he had never had sex with another woman besides his own mother and therefore he never understood what an actual relationship was, Orchid showed him what a sexual relationship was really like. Now, the only thing he wanted to do was to find Orchid and to speak with her once again.
Beginning at the tender age of twelve until he moved out of his parents' home at the age of twenty, Neil had a very sexual relationship with his mother. In fact, his mother was the woman who took his virginity. It was something that he had to admit was odd to him and would be a sin to the rest of the world but he was very thankful for the relationship he had with his mother. She showed him how to love and what a man was supposed to do when he wanted to show his feelings for another person. It was tough for him to overcome the fear of his father whacking him for telling his mother his feelings, but the older woman helped him to do it enough for her to be happy. It was the best thing he'd ever felt.

Neil wanted to find Orchid. She had been on his mind for three years now and the only thing he wanted was to find out where the hell he had gone wrong. The only thing he could think of, however, was that he wasn't as good in the bed as he had imagined he was. He had, of course, made her scream out her orgasm, but had it been enough? To save his feeling of manhood, he was going to find her and make her tell him just what he had done to make her go off to another man whether he had to torture her or just yell at her. What had gone wrong?
Now, though he had some trouble with a woman trouble to the point where he was scared to open his heart again Neil wanted to find the one for him and to get married. This could mean a man, a woman, or anything in between. After all, there were those hermaphrodites around nowadays and he had no need to tell them he wouldn't fall in love with them. They had personalities as well, you know. But... What he really wanted was just to find his soul mate and to marry that person - to be forever committed to that person.
Of course, what would come after getting married but settling down and having children? Nothing but aging, as far as Neil could see but that obviously was a rhetorical question. Neil wanted to either impregnate a woman or to adopt a baby with his male life partner. All he wanted to do was to have his own little baby - his own flesh and blood child - that he would be able to take care of and have depend on him for everything in its life. Dear God, how perfect would that be?

WHEN I GET HOME

family:

Father --> Drago Deuries was a very stern man. He was very hard on Neil and often the only time they spoke was when Drago was yelling at the boy, scolding him, or informing him on how to be a 'real man'. He was around six feet tall, had sandy hair and dark brown eyes, and was very hard on his son.
Mother --> Arianna Deuries, though her name was originally Hargtivoch. She was a very sweet woman and donated quite a bit of money to as many charities as she possibly could before she was forced into submission by her husband. She had dark brown hair and bright blue eyes, was five feet and eight inches tall, and cared deeply for her son.

history:

A small baby was born on October twenty-fourth to Drago and Arianna Deuries and was christened Cornelius Christopher Deuries. By the time the baby boy was back in his mother's arms, he was already nearly giving his parents heart attacks. It appeared that the small baby was actually strong enough to pick up his own head and glance around the room, making his mother yell about him snapping his own neck and his father tense with each of his movements. However, the small baby had yet to hurt himself in any way, shape, or form. It was impressive.
What became more apparent as the years ran by was how intelligent Neil was. By the time Neil had turned three years old he was able to read an entire small-chaptered book on his own. Such was nearly impossible for a child that was no a prodigy. Therefore, his parents made a promise that they would always put him in the best schools ¡V that, no matter what he may have wanted, he needed to go to the best schools on earth. He would develop his intelligence to the highest level he possibly could and would most likely find a cure for something. Honestly, his mother had a feeling that he already had ideas for that.
By the time Neil's fifth birthday party came around, the young boy had so many fights with his father that he had become nearly dependent on his mother's love. The pair became so close that Neil's father rarely came around the pair simply because he was so jealous of how close his son and wife seemed to be. No person outside of the couple, however, seemed to understand just how deeply Neil and his mother depended on each other.
A few years later at Neil's eighth birthday party, Arianna made a small party for him where only two people were invited - Neil and herself. She had promised him that, if he came to the party, he would receive a very large gift - something that he would remember for the rest of his life. The gift turned out to be one startling fact: Arianna gave him his first kiss. It was a small kiss to the cheek, but a kiss that meant quite a bit. She was the first woman - even the first female - to ever kiss the young boy in any manner. It was the single largest moment in his life.
From that moment on, the pair was always seen together and there was no one moment of time that they were not together when he was not in school. When he would come home from the preparatory school, his mother would be helping the cooks prepare dinner for him and would then begin to speak with.
One year when Neil came home for the summer holidays, he found his mother completely nude standing in front of the floor-length mirror in her bedroom. Being nearly thirteen years old, hormones were rushing through his body and he was unable to control the hard bulge that grew in his pants as he stared at her gorgeous, pale flesh. Arianna turned around to see him standing there with a rather furious blush on his cheeks as he attempted to hide the afflicted body part. Deciding it was time to have 'the talk' with her son, Arianna showed him just how wonderful it was to be a man.
Their relationship - both sexual and mental - lasted for eight years before Neil moved out of his parents' home to live on his own and make his own name in the world. At that point, he became a concierge doctor. In other words, he was a certified doctor to the stars - fixing every problem they needed fixed and prescribing whatever needed to be prescribed, though her made sure they were just begging for drugs. He wasn't insane, after all. He just wanted to make a good living before settling down.
And to have enough to gamble with in Vegas.

roleplay sample: [ This is another newer role play introduction that I recently came up with. This is for another character, but I'm using it for my sample. ]

A long slash of light shown in through the dark curtains and landed on the gently tanned skin of a young male. The male groaned loudly and attempted to throw his arm over his eyes, letting out a slow sigh as he lay on his plush bed. His covers were wrapped around his toned, muscular body like a cocoon of sorts and his pillow lay lopsided underneath his head. It was all too obvious that he did not wish to wake up this morning, particularly seeing as he seemed to be in a bit of pain.

Taking in a deep breath, he threw his arm off of his face and began to push himself up into a sitting position. His bright green eyes opened slowly and he glanced down at the foot of his bed to see a lanky, furry creature spread-out on the mattress. A small smirk curled his lips and he tossed the blankets and comforter aside. He crawled toward the end of his bed and gently pressed one finger to the furry stomach of the ferret, watching as it twitched in its sleep.

"Benjamin," he whispered softly to the small creature, running his finger in small circles over the small ferret¡¦s stomach. Benjamin's eyes slowly began to blink open and he grinned down at him, scooping him up into his hands. He gently placed him on his shoulder and let him lean against his neck, enjoying the warmth he emitted.

He moved into the bathroom and turned the warm water on, waiting until it was steaming to turn on the cold water. After doing so, he stripped down out of his clothing and sat his little pet down on the bathroom sink as he turned on the sink faucet for him to bathe. His hands slowly ran over his skin and down onto his thigh, tenderly running over the large, baseball-sized bruise he had received nearly two weeks ago.

Biting down into his bottom lip as he pushed into the purpled skin, he winced and brought his finger out immediately. He had shown his parents a week after it occurred and they had been stumped for a reason as to why he would still be bruised. His father had guessed that, perhaps, it was merely that he had possibly received another blow to the same spot and injured it again. However, he had quickly shot that idea down and his mother had moved on to making an appointment at the doctor¡¦s office.

The doctors had been puzzled as to why a young man like himself was still bruised from a softball after almost two weeks, at the time the family had arrived at the physician¡¦s office. The male had prodded his stomach with his fingers - painfully - and told his to stop taking any ibuprofen for any pain, unless directly prescribed. Also, he had taken quite a few vials of his blood to test for something he called "malignant". He had missed what it was for because he was still recovering from his painful stomach probing.

Then, three days later, his parents were told the horrible news. Something was not correct with his white cells and red cells and the only thing the doctor could say definitively at the moment was that there was a possibility their son had cancer. Both of the parents gasped hard at the news and felt as though their hearts had been ripped from their chests. They had two sons, but the thought of losing one of them...

Returning to the current moment, Eli glanced up into the mirror before sliding into the shower and beginning to wash himself off. Not one of the three informed family members had told the youngest of the family about the bad news, yet. They had decided that they wanted to wait for the blood results before telling anyone else in the family about the fact that one of the youngest members may be... passing away soon.

He dumped a palm-sized dollop of shampoo into his hand and began to lather it up in his hair, closing his eyes as he felt tears beginning to form at the corners of his eyes. By the time he was done lathering the soap in his dark brown locks, Eli was sobbing and wrapping his arms tightly around his body. The thought dying - of leaving his entire family behind after months of painful problems and chemotherapy that would make his sick - made his want to die already. He didn't want to hurt!

A hard gasp slipped from his throat and he backed up into the wall, his body shaking as the involuntary gasp made his cough and hack. He attempted to catch his breath and quickly ran his hands up into his hair to help wash off the rest of the soap. If he was able to catch his breath and calm down now, he wouldn't have to worry about alarming his brother. Besides, he wouldn't need to cry for the rest of the day either. Crying once was enough for his to feel satisfied for a day.

Finally washing off his entire body, he stepped out of the shower and moved toward the sink. The small ferret in the sink had climbed up on top of the faucet and began to drip dry. He wrapped a small washcloth around his body and began to dry him off after wrapping a towel around his own body.

His eyes moved up to look at the mirror and he sighed softly to himself, noticing the bags underneath his eyes beginning to form. Pulling on his clothing, he picked Benjamin up off the side of the sink and gently placed him onto his shoulder. He nuzzled gently against his neck and his tongue slid out to run over his skin gently, making Eli shiver hard as he glanced around his bedroom.

He picked up his backpack from the floor and walked out of his bedroom, moving down the staircase to head toward the kitchen. At this point, he could smell the sweet syrup his mother used on their morning pancakes and could hear the sausage sizzling in the pan. It was almost as though everything was completely normal and they were attempting to ignore some tiny, insignificant fact. However, cancer was much more than just an insignificant fact.

Glancing around the kitchen as he entered and watched his mother cooking, a small smirk curling his lips as the woman flipped pancakes and then rolled the sausage.

"Good morning, Mom," he said softly, moving forward and pressing a gentle kiss to the elder woman's cheek gently.

The elder woman smiled softly at her son and wrapped one arm around his body, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "Good morning, sweetheart," she replied, running her fingers gently through Eli's brown locks for a few moments. He was the most handsome high school student she had ever seen, as was his younger brother. It seemed that the girls just had a natural beauty about them and their personalities just sparkled. She was relieved to know she had brought up such beautiful young women.

Moving away from his mother, Eli glanced over at his father and ran his hand over the back of his neck. "Good morning, Dad," he said softly, earning a grunt and "morning" from him as he read the paper. He watched him shovel another spoonful of cereal into his mouth and he frowned deeply, wondering just why they couldn't seem to get along anymore. Sure - they had always fought, but it seemed to be even worse these days. Perhaps he was just scared of the thought of losing his?

He shook his head lightly and grabbed a plate as his mother told him that breakfast was almost ready. The eggs were already cooked and the pancakes were almost ready to be buttered and syrup-ed. Holding out his plate, he stood beside his mother and let his head rest on the elder woman's shoulder for a few moments. The female began to flip some pancakes onto his plate as Eli scooped up a helping of eggs and picked a few sausage links from the pan.

"Thanks, Mom," he said, nodding his head lightly before moving toward the table. "So, do we have any news on the blood tests yet?" He glanced up at his father - or, rather, the news paper - and then looked over at his mother, wondering whether the call late last night had been from the doctor or whether he was just overly paranoid.

The elder woman froze in her tracks and she bit down hard into her bottom lip, nodding softly as she turned around. "Yes, we do have some news."

Blinking at his mother, Eli dropped his fork onto his plate and turned to watch her for a few moments. He studied her, attempting to find some kind of facial twitch or tell-tale sign that would mean his mother was not as nervous as he was about the news. His chest began to rise and fall quicker as the silence grew, glancing around the room quickly as he bit down hard into his bottom lip and breathed through his nose.

"M-Mom?" he said softly, stuttering and swallowing the hard lump growing in his throat. "Mom, just tell me; please."

Tears came to the older woman's eyes and seemed to spring up in Eli's as well, both females standing and moving toward each other. They merely stared at each other as tears began to leak down from their eyes and leave clear, salty trails down their cheeks. It was almost as if they knew that this was going to be a tougher road than they had imagined.

"You have... cancer," his mother whispered, wrapping her arms tightly around her son as they began to sob together.

"I can't!" Eli gasped hard, sobbing into his mother¡¦s shoulder and biting down hard into his own lip. "I-I was so h-healthy. I was in sp-sports and school act-tivities a-and I'm a str-straight-A student." His body shook hard as he continued to sob into his mother's shoulder, falling down to his knees as his mother did the same. It was almost as if God had struck them down from their almost-perfect life. What had they done to him?
